POPULATION GROWTH

INTRODUCTION

Population is an important topic and I chose it because the people worry about it. In the past the number of people was small except in some places such as big cities. After that the population was continually increasing. In 1650 there was only 500 million on the world wide and this grew to 1 billion in 1840. Nowadays, however, the population on the earth has hit 6.5 billion. Some people are very worried about the ability of the world to sustain these huge numbers. Others are more optimistic and believe that humans will soon find ways to deal with this increase. This essay will talk about the problems of population increase and the ways to deal with it.

HISTORY OF POPULATION GROWTH

The population of country is the number of people living in a country. In 1840 there was only one billion on the earth. The population on the earth has now almost hit 6.5 billion. ("People's Daily Online"). In the past number of people was increasing and decreasing in different period because there were wars and epidemics. In 2025 the world population will rise to eight billion and it will be 9.3 billion in 2050. ("People's Daily Online ")

DEFINITION OF OVERPOPULATION

Overpopulation is Excessive population of an area to the point of overcrowding, depletion of natural resources, or environmental deterioration and when the density increase in random way. The quality of life drop and the population collapsed. ("Wikipedia"). Bangladesh has overpopulation because the high number of people and a few sources. In addition 1 million are added every year. (Lutton). Saudi Arabia is representing more than twice the combined population of the other Gulf countries. (Husain). In addition we have the population density. For example, the tiny country of Monaco has the world's highest population density. With an area of 1.2 of a square KM and a total population of 32,000, Monaco has a density of almost 27000 people per square KM. (Rosenberg). So this is too high number.

THE PROBLEM OF POPULATION INCREASES

There are a number of major problems For example, if the world population continued to grow at the current rate, the earth would not be able to sustain its population and the number of people will decrease. ("People's Daily Online"). In addition to this the population in the past wasn't a problem but now when it is growing rapidly it makes huge problem. Another problem is shortage of resources. Over 1.1 billion have no safe drinking water and 2.6 billion people have lack basic health care. On the other hand the reason for rapid growth of population is health care. Nowadays the health care has improved and scientists have found medicine for a lot of diseases. In the last 60 years population growth is putting a lot of pressure on health care systems in countries such as Namibia ("Population Growth").

Another thing is standard of living. For instance, if you have money you will not care about your children's future because you will have guarantee about their life. (Husain). A lot of African countries will lose their adult population to AIDS through the next 10 years. These huge growths of population make several problems. In India millions of adults are HIV positive, more than the other nation.

There is not enough land for farming cropland per person is shrinking. ("Our Demographically Divided World").Gulf countries will need five million new housing units in the next 10 years because they have a big increase in population. (Husain).

On the other hand there are some positive effects. First, the rapid population growth stimulates economic and technological developments. (Lutton). In addition to this the low population growth does not appear to have harmed productivity like UAE. Besides the low population such as in Australia are currently enjoying the greatest advanced and rises in living standards such as the health and education. Furthermore Africa can feed twice the world population. (Lutton).

UAE POPULATION

There is a huge difference between the populations in 1995-2005 in UAE. In 1995 it was 2,411,041 but in 2005 it was 4,104,695 and that is an increase of 74.8%. The national males are 50.7% and the national females account for 49.3% so that is almost same. ("UAE population"). In addition to this the illiteracy of the UAE is 9% for both nationals and non-nationals. Males make up 67.6% of the UAE population. On the other hand the females are 32.4% of the population. ("UAE population"). Dubai is already under pressure to meet a shortfall in housing that is pushing property rents higher. The Gulf countries companies have cash and expertise to make varied projects like emerging regional markets and International Finance Corporation like Dubai Financial Market and Abu Dhabi Securities Market. (Husain). The UAE until now is not overpopulated but, if the population growth is continue in the same ratio it could become a big problem.

SOLUTION

As you can see there are several problem but we have some solution. First, increase the standard of life. For example, if you have to pay for every thing such as education, health and another things maybe you will spend a lot of money. Besides this the people automatically decrease the number of children in the coming few year. ("Population Growth"). Countries with low populations are currently enjoying the greatest advanced and rises in living standards. (Lutton). The low population growth does not appear to have harmed productivity. Furthermore, we have to do birth control. In these ways we can control the increase of population. Finally the world agricultural resources can feed 40 billion people.

CONCLUSION

As we know population is an important topic and we have to worry about this rapid increase in it. In my opinion, people should not have more than two children. I believe that population growth will decrease if we follow these suggestion. The population growth is a huge problem and I hope we can solve it.
