Combined heat & power (CHP), as you mention, is a great option. I'm associated with Recycled Energy Development, which coverts manufacturers' waste heat into electricity and steam -- the key to the efficiency of CHP. Consider that 69% of our nation's greenhouse gas emissions come from the generation of power and heat; cars, by contrast, account for only 19%. So if we're to get serious about global warming, producing power more efficiently is really the place to begin.
A lot of the time, I find myself in the middle of conversations, and because I am a perfectionist I feel like I not only have to talk, but entertain everyone around me.
